I've been looking for earbuds that had a remote function for both track and volume control and with the flat style cord that I saw in Radio Shack. Nothing at Radio Shack worked for my Samsung Galaxy Mega smartphone. My kids go through earbuds like water, and now with a new kitten in the house, earbuds don't have a chance. I bought used from the Amazon warehouse, thinking I could try this for the reasonable price, so I didn't really have high expectations for these.First of all, the packaging is wonderful. I did think "Over the top" for $15 earbuds, but nevertheless the impression I have is attention to detail. At first I thought the round part in the middle was part of the awesome packaging, then I realized that it was yet more awesomeness in the form of a round case to store both earbuds and the soft inserts. A wristband that has the colorful PLUR motto is also included. The only negative to the packaging and accessories is that the tiny clip that secured the cord to clothing broke when I tried to use it, but I've done without clips with previous earbuds so this is a minor complaint for me.The earbuds themselves look better than any earbuds I've ever used. The sound is great, all the songs I've been listening to sound full-bodied. The regular inserts for the buds stay in my ears, so I haven't tried the double-flange inserts, which is supposed to be for deeper seating. Not crazy about the idea but others may find these fit better. While the volume control works beautifully, the track control only works for pause and forward. Apparently the backwards control only works with iPhones and may not work for most Androids (I'm resigned to this as all my other earbuds haven't had this). The question is, would I pay the full price for these? I might be persuaded to just for the extras, and definitely if I knew these will last. I'll come back in a few months to report on how well these hold up (hopefully the kitten will keep his paws off these). When I purchased my first pair nearly 4 years ago, I was very impressed with the durability and the sound quality. Since then, I have purchased 3 more pairs, all of which I have been dissatisfied with.Quite simply, the quality of the product has decreased immensely. I've had one earbud of the pair fail, broken wires entering the earpiece, a defective volume control, an inoperable microphone, and more.My fourth pair avoids those problems, but the sound quality is noticably worse than my first pair. With some devices, the volume simply can't go high enough. After running tests with different earbuds and devices, I've concluded the problem lies within the MEE earbuds. Secondly, there is a woeful lack of bass. Virtual all sound is mid-range and treble. That's an embarrassing problem for an earbud that claims to be built for listening to dance music, which tends to be bass heavy. Thirdly, what sound does come through sounds muffled and distant. Not quite like being underwater, but more like a thin wall or heavy curtain in the way.I use my earbuds with phone, tablet, computer, and t.v. None of my other brand earbuds have this problem using all those devices. Nor do I encounter the problem using speakers with those devices. Therefore, it's not the devices. It's the MEE EDM Universe that's at fault.Don't be fooled by the price either. My first pair -- the **good** pair -- cost about $20 on Amazon. My second pair cost $13 on Amazon. My fourth pair cost $8 on Amazon. Notice the trend? Must be a reason. What happens when you drop the price, but still don't sell enough to reach revenue targets? You start sacrificing quality in order to save on production costs!Don't waste your money. They used to be good, but that time has long since passed.Did not sound as good as a previous pair of MEElectronics earphones that I had. When my previous pair was stolen out of the break room at work, I went online to order another pair of the same model. Upon visiting the MEElec website, however, I saw this new model that caught my eye. I listen to a lot of drum and bass, dubstep, trap, and other electronic music. I love bass. One problem with the previous pair of earphones was that the bass wasn't punchy enough for my tastes, which is why this edm-inspired earphone caught my eye. The highs and mids were fantastic, they had a great amount of treble, and vocals were crisp and clear as if I was right in the studio with the artist. This pair of earphones was nowhere near that previous model. The bass is oversaturated, drowning out highs and mids, leaving them sounding muddled and stepped-on. Although the low-end sounded over-saturated, the bass still lacked the punch I was looking for. In fact, this pair seemed to have less punch in the bass than the balanced-armature earphones I had before. I feel like this was a waste of money and I wouldn't recommend them for the price. I actually upgraded to the $300 Westone 3's (which I got on sale on Amazon for $150.) They produce sound lightyears ahead of these earphones with a better all-around balance between highs, lows, and mids. It's been a long time since I used a pair of vanilla earphones that come with modern phones and iPods (the last time I used my iPod earphones was 2008 when they broke) so I couldn't accurately tell you how much of an upgrade these would be from any pair of stock earphones. Regardless, I advise against spending your money on these and doing a little more research on the internet to find a pair of earphones if you're planning to spend more than $40.They're good quality sound for the very short amount of time before they break I kept them in the case provided yet still the earpiece has broken totally not worth it.Died very quickly on me, left headphone went completely mute, would not recommend.I received the headphones in the mail only two days after purchase so the delivery aspect of the transaction was really quick.Initially I thought the volume control would change the phone volume but it controls the headphone volume only, this could be a con for some people using their earphones with their phones but I am getting just used to it so it isn't that bad. The pause button works perfectly with my Galaxy S5 so I'll say that it would probably work with other android phones as well. Double press to skip a track and triple press to go back to a track also works too.Sound from the earphones is really good, I listen to a lot of rap and hip hop so these headphones aren't really meant for that but the bass is good and they have a surround sound feel, definitely would recommend it to people that listen to that type of music. I did try listening to some EDM and the songs with really heavy bass sound fantastic. I tested the microphone from the earphones vs the phone microphone, the earphone microphone delivers better quality sound and it sound's more realistic but it doesn't sound very loud while the phone was much louder but wasn't crisp sounding. The cable length is excellent it's really long and also comes with a shirt clip, it is also a flat cable so it doesn't get tangled as much as regular cables when you take it out of your pocket so there is nothing lacking from the experience there. The flat cable is covered with colored plastic that looks and feel kinda cheap but I don't have a huge problem with it since I only paid $40 for this pair. The earphones come with 4 pairs of ear tips ranging from small, medium, large and a double flange ear tip. Normally I would use either small or medium ear tips but the included double flange ear tip fits perfectly in my ear and even delivers better sound because of it. One issue that came up with the double flange is that it opens up outwards when I remove it from my ears almost 1/10th of the time, not a big deal but it does happen. The color on the earphones I purchased is also faded in some places but it isn't noticeable it you don't go out of your way to look for discoloration. The earphones also comes with a wrist band which I don't care much about, and a carrying case which is nice but I wouldn't really use it and would just carry my earphones around in my pocket.Only real con for me is the design of the housing case because it is so big, they stay in the ear properly and don't really weigh much but still seem really big when I look at myself in the mirror. Another issue is that the inside of my ears become uncomfortable after a long time of listen, I tried them for 2 hours and the problem started.Design: 0Build quality: 0Sound quality: 4Comfort: 2Satisfaction: 1Update: Like I said before, the housing of the earphones are extremely large and there is only a small spacing of plastic between two parts of the housing which makes it extremely fragile. Today while taking the earphone out of my bag it got caught into a seem and the housing broke. They don't work anymore after 2 months. Quality was okay but I would never buy these again.I purchased these based on the positive reviews. However I was so very disappointed and returned them for a full refund. The sound quality was very poor. Given the price, I was surprised by how plastic they felt - they certainly didn't feel +£30!!!The packaging was very impressive and high end. When I had figured out how to open the box (like a book) I heard the sound of a piece of plastic having fallen on the floor. I found the small clip for the cable had broken in the box and subsequently fallen out when I unpacked it. I use my current earphones for running (iLuv) and the little clip is super at keeping the cable from whipping me in the face.My biggest gripe has to be with the volume control - a slider which works completely independently to the iphone/ipod controls. So, you may increase the volume using the slider, but you'll find it doesn't change the iphone/ipod volume setting. That might not make sense as you really have to try it to see what I mean. Other earphones change the volume setting and you can see it changing on the iphone/ipod screen but not these.Within an hour of so, I had made up my mind and repacked everything ready to be sent back to Amazon.Maybe I had a dud pair, but in all, a rather poo poo experience.Very superb packaging and excellent condition on delivery, but the product is not up to the mark. Before buying i read the reviews for this product saying very punchy bass and superb sound quality, i would say my MI headphones are far much better than this product and i have been using the product for an year and more but they still sound amazing. Talking about these headphones i got really disappointed with them. Not just the sound quality is not up to the mark, even the fit is not so comfortable. I suggest these headphones are for those who can spend good money for decent sound but if you are looking for some punchy bass, these ain't the piece that u r looking for.
