I ordered this USB adapter because my laptop's bluetooth was constantly dropped. I love how small the adapter is and its very easy to use and install. The adapter loses 1 start because while the adapter is small, the actual USB end to connect to laptop is a tiny bit too short. My laptop (ASUS Zephyrus) has its USB ports inset. I had to trim off the left/right edges to get it fully in the USB port and actually work. This thing is cheap and tiny, so don’t expect long range. Haven’t tried any audio devices, as it just connects a mouse and keyboard. One note, the cap is only press fit, not glued. So if you want to unplug this from your machine.. superglue it. Or buy a nicer one. I don’t own you.Works Great!!!So, where do I begin? The thing about this product which I feel is an issue is something that many people won't notice without diving deeper into the firmware/hardware properties. The first flag of something suspicious happened when I tried to install the product firmware/drivers. One of the products I use to protect my system is a program called "Hitman Pro", which is a wonderful program that helps protect your system from a multitude of attacks. The "Intercepted Attack" screenshot from the program, which originated from its "Exploit Mitigation" section, occurred the moment I tried to run the setup file. Following the Hitman Pro block I decided to install the drivers using the device manager to see if the device was legit. I plugged in the adapter, went to the Windows Device Manager, right clicked the adapter under the Bluetooth Section and went to the Driver section. I clicked "Update Driver" and pointed the destination to the drivers on the CD that came with the adapter. Voila! The adapter installed perfectly and the driver showed last updated Jan 2021 which looked great. So what's the problem you might ask? The problem is what I then discovered. If you go to the "Advanced" section under the Adapter Properties you'll notice the firmware version shows LMP 9.25805. You can see that from the screenshot. If you then look at the LMP screenshot you'll notice that LMP 9 is not Bluetooth 5.1 like the product states but is in fact 5.0. To clarify any confusion, Bluetooth 5.0 CANNOT be upgraded to 5.1 through a software update as the difference between the two is hardware related. To make matters worse, if you proceed to the Drivers section under the Adapter Properties and click on "Driver Details" you'll see another problem, which you can verify in my final screenshot. The driver, provided by the company has no listed "Provider", File Version" or "Copyright". What does this mean? Simply put, it means that the driver was modified and its ownership can't be verified. The only thing you can see from the adapter properties is that the Bluetooth chip was produced by Realtek, which to be honest doesn't even say much about the overall quality of the product nor does it validate the false advertising of the Bluetooth capabilities, 5.0 vs 5.1. At the end of the day what you pay for is what you get. Personally, I'd rather have a name brand adapter that has a verifiable track record and quality rating that I can trust. Back it goes.It works when you are in front of your pc but not far away. I would say about 2 ft is the max length for good connectivity.I compared several models. Key points I look for are price, functionality, and latest technology. At the time of writing this I can say this checked all the boxes. Not over paying for a name, setup in Windows 10 was a matter of plugging it in and it worked. No digging for drivers or any of that. Technology is the latest, they might have come out with one Bluetooth version newer but it's not come to dongles at the time of my purchase.Price is very reasonable. I've connected my pixel 6 pro, a steel series controller and a PS5 dualsense controller quickly without issues. Can't go wrong with this Bluetooth dongleGreat price and great value. its low profile 5.1 dingle. With great connection and ease of use. If you are still using a 2.1 dongle this will be worth te buy. No interference from any other devices especially priority protocol with multiple USB devices connected. 5/5 would buy again.Works fine with Unix (Ubuntu) and bluez.
