The reviews had me very worried!! I'm extremely pleased by the quality. I just got hired as an EMT Basic. I was given a hand-me-down stethoscope that is from the 90s (I was born in the late 90s, so it is cool that it's older than me). The sound and quality has depreciated over time and thus I needed a new stethoscope. The reviews made me worried about this stethoscope. If it is truly counterfeit, then it's still pretty nice compared to what I used to use! I will be comparing it to the Littmann at the EMT training center though just to see if it is the real deal or not. Otherwise, it seems pretty legit to me and I could hear just fine out of the adult side. When it comes to the infant side, I have to train my ears but I like using the infant side for BPs (or at least that's what I had to do with my old one because I couldn't hear them with the adult side). I'm pleased with how light it is and the bell is heavier, which is to be expected. I'm excited to use this on scenes.UPDATE: I put the serial code from the stethoscope onto the actual Littmann Website via the Warranty page and it came up as authentic and the dates match the box too. So check your codes and verify with the Warranty page! If it doesn't show up, it isn't a real one and if you don't have a serial code on it, then it isn't real. So I think some buyers are getting real ones and others aren't.I love this stethoscope! It’s beautiful! This is like a dream! It is a bit heavy on the back of the neck however as I tend to wear it there all day.Pros: The quality is great, the colour of the tubing and chest piece is very pretty looks even better in person, and it's unique amongst my classmates who have mainly black stethoscopes. Breath, and chest sounds sound nice and clear with this stethoscope in my opinion, I'm a paramedic student and needed a stethoscope to hear breath and heart sounds for physical assessment of patients while in potentially loud conditions and this works great to block out outside noises and isolate the body sounds, its comfortable in my ears. The tubing is lightweight (you can easily wear this around your neck for hours without fatigue). The tubing is very flexible, and it's easy to clean with alcohol wipes. Tubing is long enough to comfortably distance yourself from a patient while listening to breath/other sounds. Comes with a 5 year warranty. And the Littmann app membership included with purchase is helpful for studying sounds.Cons: It's very expensive (I have an MDF one stethoscope that is half the price of this and sounds almost as good, I'd rate the MDF one as a 8/10 and the littmann classic iii as 9/10 sound wise. The major difference for the MDF one is it's a bit heavier, tubing is longer, and stiffer, and it has a double sided chest piece in comparison to this littmann). Also the instructions warn that this tubing colour because its red based will fade or distort if santizied with bleach. Finally, I find the increasing pressure to hear different frequencies chest piece hit or miss, if I push too hard the sound is muted sometimes (I prefer a double sided chest piece with each side designated for different sound frequencies).Overall I would highly recommend this stethoscope to others. Gehalten hat es bis vorletzte Woche. Der Schlauch war über die Jahre porös geworden und ist nun an einer Stelle leider eingerissen. Wechseln musste ich in all den Jahren nur einmal die Membran und zwei mal die Ohroliven. Die Oliven habe ich jedoch eher aus hygienischen Gründen gewechselt, die Membran, weil sie einen leichten riss in der Silikonbefestigung hatte - wobei auch dieser erst nach 15 Jahren auftrat. Alles in allem habe ich mein altes Littmann also über 20 Jahre in Gebrauch gehabt im Anästhesie- und Intensivbereich. Würde also sagen, hoher Benutzungs- und Belastungsgrad, immer "aufgerollt" in der Kitteltasche und nicht "wichtig um den Hals gehängt". Der Hinweis ist vor allem auf die jetzt aufgetretene Brüchigkeit des Schlauches bezogen! Ständiges "aufrollen" und desinfizieren vor und nach Gebrach hat das gute Stück problemlos bis zum "end-of-life" mitgemacht!Also musste jetzt ein neues her. Was lag bei der bisher gemachten Erfahrung also näher, als wieder ein Littmann zu ordern? Nichts!Zur Preisgestaltung:Zuallererst möchte ich hier folgendes feststellen - damals DM 185,- bezahlt, heute € 84,-. Das hat mich schon mal sehr erstaunt. Gut man muss natürlich dazu sagen: damals im Fachhandel, heute bei Amazon. Ich kann allerdings im Fachhandel für die Rainbow Edition im Schwarz unglaubliche Preisspannen bezahlen: zwischen 79,- bis 139,- € hab ich bei meiner Recherche alles entdeckt... Von daher bin ich mit dem Preis bei Amazon von 84,- € vollauf zufrieden!Zur Bestellung:Gestern hat mich dann bei wie gewohnt zügiger Lieferung nach Bestellung am Sonntagabend erreicht. Sogar einen Tag vor dem angegebenen Lieferdatum. Dafür schon mal Daumen hoch!Nun zum Stethoskop selbst:voller Vorfreude habe ich das gute Stück ausgepackt und muss sagen, es hat mich wie beim ersten Littmann auch voll überzeugt. Hübsche Verpackung in Hochglanz - was ja eigentlich nebensächlich ist. Das Stethoskop selbst ist durch ein Schaumstoffpolster gut geschützt angekommen. Zusätzlich mit dabei ein zweites Paar Ohroliven - Die Softvariante! Das fand ich klasse. Beim alten Littmann waren da noch harte Oliven als Ersatz mit dabei - die konnte man ja nicht (er)tragen, weil die in den Ohren gedrückt und weh getan haben. Hier hat Littmann also dazugelernt.Dann ist jetzt zusätzlich zum Kälteschutzring noch eine zweite kleinere Membran für den Trichter mit dabei. Diese ist für den dualen Einsatz des Stethoskopes neben erwachsenen Patienten für den Einsatz bei pädiatrischen Patienten gedacht. Find ich persönlich ne schön durchdachte Lösung, auch wenn ichs selbst derzeit nicht benötige. Aber so muss man nicht mehr zwei Stethoskope mit sich rumschleppen, wenn man beide Patientengruppen betreut."Bedienungsanleitung" ist ebenfalls in der Lieferung mit enthalten, falls man diese braucht. Was nicht mehr dabei ist, ist eine damals beim Classic II S.E. mitgelieferte Audio-CD mit Herz- und Atemgeräuschen. Aber mal ganz ehrlich - wer braucht sowas heute noch in Zeiten von mp3 und YouTube? Die zweite Membran und die Ersatz-Softoliven sind da in meinen Augen das deutlich sinnvollere "give-away".Was mich nachhaltig in der Weiterentwicklung vom Classic II zum Classic III beeindruckt hat ist weiterhin die Soundqualität! Mein lieber Schieber! Da liegen Welten dazwischen. Das hätte ich so nicht erwartet. Vor allem die Dual-Frequency-Geschichte beim Classic III hat mich fasziniert. Direkt ausprobiert mit leicht und fest aufdrücken beim Auskultieren - und: "works as designed"! Fantastisch! Was will man mehr?Zu den hier bereits beschriebenen "Desinfektionsmittel-Problemen" in Bezug auf das Ablösen der Membran:Dies kann ich natürlich noch nicht nachvollziehen, da ich das Stesthoskop noch nicht im Klinikalltag verwendet habe. Jedoch haben wir für empfindliche Materialien und Geräte spezielle Desinfektionstücher im Einsatz, welche ich für mein altes Littmann auch immer verwendet habe. Damit hatte ich nie Probleme - und ich finde, dass sich die Membran am Classic II deutlich leichter lösen lies, als jetzt am Classic III. Von daher kann ich mir das nicht wirklich vorstellen, dass sie einfach abfallen soll, so wie dies hier mehrfach beschrieben wurde. Allerdings soll man sein Littmann ja auch nicht in z.B. Sterillium Pure oder Virugard etc. baden! Mal ganz abgesehen davon, dass es sich dabei um Händedesinfektionsmittel und nicht um Flächendesinfektionsmittel handelt! Dann finde ich, sollte man auch nicht jammern, wenn das "empfindlichste" Teil dieses wirklich robusten Stethoskopes, also das Material der Membran nachgibt oder kaputt geht!Dennoch - ich werde dies im Auge behalten beim täglichen Einsatz und ggf. Berichten, ob an dieser Problematik bei sachgemäßer Desinfektion mit dafür bestimmtem Flächendesinfektionsmittel was dran ist. Und nein, ich werde dafür ganz sicher kein extra von Littmann empfohlenes Produkt käuflich erwerben und verwenden, sondern das, welches mir im Alltag zur Verfügung steht!Mein persönliches Fazit: perfekte Qualität für den täglichen Einsatz auf einer Intensivstation. Ich freu mich auf den Einsatz in der Praxis!
