The images indicate the internal diameter of the cupholder is 3.43", but it is actually 2.81". It is sufficient (and nearly perfect) for a typical 12oz soda can (roughly 2.6"), but will not fit anything much larger, including the 3" diameter cup for which I purchased the cupholder. Even the external diameter (which is not particularly relevant for a cupholder) is only about 3.31". I will be returning this item.Good quality and works fine for headphones, but the cup holder does not fit with a mug cup, only for narrow cups
