To be honest, I was very, VERY sceptical about this product. Let me explain first why I needed it:Lounge: HD TV, WD TV Live HD Box, xBox 360.Bedroom: PC with Broadband, modem and router (via Virgin Media).I wanted to get internet wired in to my lounge for use with the xBox and WDTV, but the signal from the router supplied by dear Virgin is beyond pathetic, even using their recommended Broadband Adaptors. I had it in mind to do a straight wored connection, but this would have meant some professional help with drilling and trunking and - well, ok, it could have been done but I was holding out on that as a last resort. So I stumbled - literally - across Homeplug from Solwise. Historically, gadgets and me tend not to get on - I am usually the one who gets a faulty first one, then has to wait a week for a replacement, then gets refunded by accident instead of replacement etc etc - you know the story - will, that's me. Homeplug looked just a little too good to be true. I had heard of the product before, but it always seemed to me to me to be a gadget that someone had for the sake of it, probably managed a meg or two tops, and was more mouth than trousers, if you get my drift.Well, the homeplug arrived (next day, incidentally, and tracked package). I plugged it in to the only available sockets which were on 4-gang, 10 foot long (ish) extensions. And they.......just......worked.Just like that. No messing, no fiddling, no installation, no nothing. Worked within 60 seconds of opening the box, literally.I had fine signal to WDTV and XBox - no drama at all. It completely slipped my mind that I had ignored the advice to avoid extensions for a while, so after playingxBox Live for the first time for an hour or two, I rejigged things and plugged the Homeplugs straight into the wall, wondering if it would make a difference. DAMN, it makes a difference. It really does seem just like a plain old wired connection. Brilliant, brilliant product and has converted me from a sceptic to a believer - and saved me the cost of the help and trunking!!!Because of the way my house is constructed, I was wondering about how to get connection into 2 other rooms - they were going to be tough...not any more.
